It’s Easy to Claim the Title of a Cosmetic Dentist….

....It’s Much Harder to Earn That Trust

Choosing a qualified and highly experienced provider of Cosmetic Dentistry in St. Louis, MO is of ultimate importance for patients seeking a smile enhancement….

...No Matter how Small or how Complex the Smile Makeover!

Locating a caring and competent practitioner of Cosmetic Dentistry in St. Louis, MO; one who is trusted in the community and who has had years of experience to perfect the technique of blending art with science, is not easy.  You want to select the most qualified Aesthetic Dentist to create and care for your uniquely custom Smile....

...You Have a Choice in Cosmetic Dentistry!

Dr. William Schlotz, DDS -- Top St. Louis, MO Cosmetic DentistConsider the Following Criteria

  • Experience… Select a DDS that has many years of experience providing highly successful cosmetic dentistry cases in St.Louis, MO.
  • Credentialing (Continuing Education)… It is very important that you choose a trusted & qualified cosmetic dentist who constantly updates his state-of-the-art knowledge and skill repertoire with very high levels of Peer-Reviewed, Accredited type Continuing Education. Completing Post-Graduate programs such as that offered at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) or the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF COSMETIC DENTISTRY (AACD) should be considered also.
  • Before & After Cases… Be sure to see a “Gallery of Smiles” of cases actually performed by the aesthetic dentist.  Many general dentists claiming to be a “cosmetic dentist” will display before/after photos of cases performed by some “traveling-show” type Dentist.
  • Minimally Invasive Approach… Wanton and excessive removal of tooth structure in the name of cosmetic dentistry is unfortunate and, sadly, all too common in dental practices even in 2010!  With ultra-thin “Lumineers” and the more advanced “EMAX” type Veneers your Smile can be improved and your teeth may even be strengthened in the process.  Be sure your choice of Aesthetic Dentists has a healthy respect for your natural tooth structure.
  • Gummy Smile Considerations… The symmetry of a beautiful smile involves a harmonious interplay between gum tissue and teeth.  Many dentists will only consider treating the teeth when the gum tissue might be a large part of a “Smile Solution”.  A few trained Aesthetically inclined dentists will treat “gummy” areas in-office with high tech methods such as the soft tissue laser (referred to as a “gum lift”).  Others, at least aware of the need for gum intervention, will refer out to a specialist for this treatment.  Either way… be sure your aesthetic-cosmetic dentist is considering gum tissue in your Smile Design.
  • Comfort… Many patients put off the cosmetic dentistry they would greatly benefit from due, simply, to fear.  Select a dental office and Professional Team offering the Oral Sedation Dentistry, the Dental Button, Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), the Wand and other methods for complete Patient Comfort and Relaxation.
  • Assurance… Look for a dentist with extraordinary skills and the confidence to back it up.  Many a DDS will offer to re-treat dentistry that fails … for a year or so.  A select few offices actually Assure their quality of care for many years; and in certain circumstances even for a Lifetime!  Treatment Assurance is something to be discussed and considered.
  • Professionalism… Visit your choice provider of cosmetic dentistry.  What does the facility look like?  Is it state-of-the-art?  Is the Dental Team first-class?  You might not be able to judge the degree of OSHA sterilization and disinfection directly, however, certain clues are evident and obvious.  Once you’ve visited, and met with, your potential cosmetic dentist and team, your instincts, likely, can be trusted.
  • The Issue of Fees… Higher-Level quality of dentistry brings with it, of course, a commensurate fee.  This only makes sense, and if you’re still in search of the “free lunch” you best not look in a dental office.  In fact, be wary of the oxymoron of “cheap cosmetic dentistry”.  The usual "speed dentistry" style leads to a higher percentage of mistakes, with much frustration (not to mention added costs) for the patient.

Note that many top-quality aesthetic dentists spend much of their time re-treating failed cosmetic dentistry cases.  Most of the time, “cheap” dentistry leads to corners being cut along with colossal mis-handling of the treatment.  Paying for cosmetic dentistry once is tough enough.  Having to pay for it twice is untenable, and certainly NOT "cheap" anymore.

It is our belief that the thought of “Cheap” care should be replaced by Quality with reasonable fees and flexible treatment options.  It is only with Treatment Options that fees can logically become reduced without sacrificing quality.
